Oh Really?: New iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle explained.
Although this isn’t fairly accurate, as the dimensions and controls are off on both devices, it does make you think however that this was probably the basis for the new look.

Apple’s New iPod Lineup
Let me start out by saying I am currently setting aside my difficult prejudice against Apple. Anyone that personally knows me knows I can’t stand Apple and I don’t like their business model of being trend-setters. I respect a company more that does more quality work to benefit their user than one that tries to make the user have a trend setting experience. However I do like some of the stuff that Apple comes up with, and can anyone blame me for liking the new iPod lineup?
The iPod shuffle is by far the dumbest invention ever. This is basically Apple’s way of saying, “Hey if you are too broke to afford a real iPod why don’t you give us what little money you do have and then at least you’ll have a reason to put iTunes on your computer?” Again that is just my opinion, not being able to see what song you are going to play makes a world of difference to me. This is the only iPod I have a problem with. But the new finish on it looks great, and it’s size is highly convenient. And at $49 for a 2GB it’s not all that bad…
Now this little guy right here? Superb. This should be the starter of the lineup, not the damn shuffle. Integrating the touchscreen in this product is by far one of the best things Apple could’ve done to revise the iPod Nano. Features and everything on this little guy is great. Though it doesn’t do video playback (yet) it still has an extreme purpose for those who want a lightweight media player. 8GB and 16GB flavors also really make this a winner in my book.
Now the big guy, the iPod Touch. Officially the new portable gaming system bohemoth, taking on bigger numbers than Sony and Nintendo combined, will be stunting with the new iOS 4.1 with Game Center, FaceTime w/ front facing camera and HD video recording. Sorry but I no longer see a reason to get an iPhone, looks like the only reason for me to own anything Apple made would be this little number right here. This is awesome, but it’s not a necessity for me… so yeah I’m too cheap to go and buy one still… my phone works just fine as an music player.
I’ll take this time to say RIP to the iPod Classic that did not get a revision. Looks like Apple won’t be bringing back the click-wheel. I remember my 80GB iPod Classic… it was awesome…
Well that is the new lineup, and I for one think that the new iPod Touch and Nano are great. While I don’t like Apple personally, I’ll have to give them kudos on this fresh take at both devices… hopefully they kill the shuffle off next year.
