Desktop Friday: Trigun Edition by Rein Sangeki
Trigun is my all time favorite Anime, love it to death! Watched it all in one night without a break. Needless to say my PC is filled with Trigun wallpaper and this one just so happens to be one of my top favorites so I decided to use it in this Desktop Friday.

Desktop Customization | Windows (For Dummies): The Guide - aBeautifulStory.
Disclaimer: Not responsible if you mess up your computer. Just saying. You should probably have both a good internet connection as well as an antivirus if you’re going to be downloading all of the required resources.
You will need:
Winrar (To extract anything downloaded in .zip or .rar format).
Tune-Up Utilities (Easy installation of third-party themes | Also speeds up your PC)
Rainmeter (Awesome widgets for your desktop)
Objectdock (optional) ( Custom dock that stores your favorite programs easily)
CDArtDisplay (optional) (Custom media player skins that works w/ any player)
Resources: (Cool places to get your themes, wallpapers, skins, etc).
DitchDefault (Wide array of items| Includes XP themes)
 DeviantArt (Win 7 Themes)
 DeviantArt (Rainmeter Skins)
 DeviantArt (Vista Themes)
 DeviantArt (XP Themes)
 Interfacelift (Wallpapers)
 7te (Wallpapers)
 CDartDisplay (CDartDisplay Skins)
To Do:
In “My Documents,” create your own “Visual Styles” folder. This is where you will extract all your themes downloaded in zip format.
If you choose to use Objectdock with custom icons, create your own “Icons” folder as well.
Create your own “Wallpapers” folder in “Pictures” so you have easy access to your favorite downloaded wallpapers.
Install Winrar.
Install Tune-Up. (If you know for a fact that you are COOL with me, email or IM me for a key).
Go to folder options, and enable extensions of known file types to be shown.
Steps:
After downloading themes that tickle your fancy and extracting them into your custom “Visual Styles” folder, use Tune Up Styler to install them.
Note: For advanced users: If you are not completely satisfied with the way it looks, you can copy the “explorer.exe” file of the custom theme (located somewhere in the theme folder). Make sure the corresponding “explorer.exe” file goes with your version of Windows: 64-bit or 32-bit. Before pasting it, go to C:/Windows and rename “explorer.exe” to “explorer_bak.exe” | Then paste the custom theme’s explorer.exe into C:/Windows. Open up task manager/processes and kill task “explorer.exe”. Your start menu and any open folders will close. In task manager/run, type in “explorer.exe” and press enter. The new theme’s version will be applied. Repeat these steps when applying new themes, renaming the old “explorer.exe” with the new theme’s version: (explorer_bak2, explorer_bak3). NEVER DELETE “explorer_bak” as that is your default system’s version!!
Like your theme? Cool, make sure you have an awesome wallpaper to go with it. Now install Rainmeter.
Note: (Rainmeter can be kind of complicated to understand, especially if you are not tech-savvy. However, if you are patient, all it takes is a little time, and soon you will be able to understand it all)!
Rainmeter will open after installation. You will already see a whole new change on your desktop. Sorry, but teaching this is another guide in itself, so read the guide it gives you. =]
I will tell you this much, to install new Rainmeter skins, download and extract it to My Documents > Rainmeter (The program created that folder automatically).
Optional: Rainmeter comes with it’s own “Now playing” widget that works with any media player, but if you want custom CDartDisplay, then install it as well as the skin you want. It’s pretty simple.
Objectdock:
Install objectdock.
Once it’s running, it will be big and already have icons on it. To remove those icons, just drag them off of the dock.
To add your own icons, drag the program files onto the dock.
Customize objectdock by right clicking on the dock, and clicking “Dock settings.” Here you can change the size of the dock as well as its location.
To use your custom icons for the program files on the dock, right click on the program on the dock, and click “dock entry properties.”
Click on “Change Image” and browse for the icon .png or .ico files you downloaded from deviantart.
That’s basically all you have to know. For any questions or comments, feel free to email me: ab3autifulstory@gmail.com or post a message in my formspring. I also have aim:ab3autifulstory & gtalk (email username).
