Updated my Nexus One with the Android 2.2 “FroYo” update. This is the best “dessert” flavor of the OS yet. Never have I been able to say that I truly feel the speed increase and optimization of the software, until now.
Still there are a few hitches that come off as more than minor annoyances.
1.) Account Integration: I love this feature, but there is a serious bug with it that I have commented and starred on the Google code site. The display names of contacts are being randomly displayed based on a particular network and there is no way to set it. A person can be identified by their Facebook, Twitter, of Google display name. I have about 3 friends that believe “DethGodL33t” is a better name than the one I gave them and it’s plastered all about their Facebook, and now it’s on my phone. It’s distracting and it takes away from my hard work that I put into organizing my gContact list. I should at least be able to choose which service I want the display name to be associated with. Currently it’s not an option. Please star the issue if you have a chance.
2.) WiFi WPA 2 Enterprise: Again, another issue that wasn’t resolved from 2.1 that I have starred in the code site. The authentication process for WPA 2 Enterprise is a mess, I haven’t been able to successfully connect once at my job. Other horror stories show a success rate of about less than 40% and that is only after trying god knows how many times. It’s awful! Fix it Google!
I’m weary to install the Flash beta as I hear it slows down the phone tremendously but I am far too curious to let that stop me much longer. I’ll update this post when I get to it.
Otherwise, it’s a great update that anyone would be excited to partake in. Unfortunately this update has only been released for the N1, so as I stated before, my phone rocks much harder than yours.
